We’ve all heard it. Whether it was said directly to us, or we’ve heard someone else’s story, the question always seems to come up: “What were you wearing when you were abused?”
Together, Hope Anne Dueck, Mary Byler, and Ruth Ann Brubaker have been working to create a unique and impactful art display. It will be composed of actual items and near-to-real-life replications of clothing worn by “plain” background survivors at the time of their assault/abuse.
We have an amazing photographer who has agreed to donate her time to help document these impactful images in a professional, respectful manner. Stay tuned and if you are willing to be of assistance in this project, please reach out! We will eventually need donations to be able to get the photos professionally printed and mounted for display. The goal is to do this project with such a level of quality that it will end up on display in places that are able to reach hearts in vast quantities.
We have heard many stories of abuse at A Better Way, but the preparations for this project have impacted us in a way we did not expect. Seeing the items of clothing of young children, innocent little children who were brutally violated, some as young as 3 months old, is gut-wrenching. Our hope is that this project will have a similar impact on those who see it.
